2016 Year in Review//December 31, 2016

Looking back through the photographs I’ve taken in 2016 is one of my favorite year-end traditions. It reminds me of where I’ve been, and gets me excited for what’s to come. Every story is unique and beautiful, and as I remember each couple and family I was lucky enough to photograph, I think about how love is the most important thing we need in the world right now. Whether it’s with our family, our friends, or our partner, there is nothing more fulfilling than giving and receiving love.  I wish everyone health and happiness, now and every day of the year, and I look forward to capturing all the joy 2017 has in store. Happy New Year!allegra_anderson_photography_ct_engagement_photographer_bishops_orchard_10337allegra_anderson__photography_wedding_photographer_hartford_engagement_siegelallegra_anderson_photography_connecticut_engagement_photographer_wadsworth_falls_201630

Alex and Kevin Society Room Wedding//December 30, 2016

Alex and Kevin’s elegant wedding was held at The Society Room in Hartford, Connecticut, a unique venue with vintage qualities. Originally built in 1834, the once Society for Savings Bank is now The Society Room, featuring original grand marbled columns, a gold leaf muraled ceiling and bank vault. It’s the perfect setting for a glamorous wedding.  The warm hues of burgundy and blush combined with the character of the The Society Room made for a picturesque fall day. Alex looked stunning in her lovely Badgley Mischka dress, with jewel detailing that wrapped around the back. Her dress completed the classic vintage theme she envisioned.  Alex and Kevin are such a playful, easy going couple, with a love for laughing and enjoying life to the fullest. This is exactly how they shared their day with close family and friends.  Congratulations to this new Mr. & Mrs.!

Matt and Diane Farmington Club Wedding//December 27, 2016

The sweetest love stories are the ones that begin before the couple even knows it. Matt and Diane were friends since middle school and both attended Uconn. While at a post-graduation Uconn football game they reconnected and sparks flew! Once they started dating, they immediately knew they were right for each other and their friendship turned into love. On a Saturday in October they exchanged vows in front of family and friends at Sacred Heart Parish in New Britain. The newlyweds, bridal party and I made our way to the gorgeous Walnut Hill Park to take group and couples photos. I love how Diane’s stunning Casablanca dress stood out against the fall foliage. Following their couples photographs, we headed to The Farmington Country Club for an elegant reception. During one of the most beautiful moments of the evening, the parents of the bride and groom performed a traditional Polish blessing. I love how they incorporated their heritage into their special day. The evening continued with music by Heartbeat Dance Band who kept the party going all night. I’m overjoyed for this couple to be together and I wish them the best as they start their new life together as husband and wife.

Ireland Travel Photography//December 19, 2016

In October Steve and I went on a seven day trip to Ireland and completely fell in love with the country. We decided to go southwest along the coast, and drove from Dublin to Cork, Kilarney, Dingle and Doolin. Crowd sourcing from our friends and family who visited or lived there (especially my Irish Godfather and best friend Tara), we decided this would give us a good viewing of city and country. Arriving in Dublin at 6AM, we located our rental car and embarked upon a frightening drive through the morning rush, on the wrong side of the road, to our hotel. If you need a visual to understand, I would sum it up like this. We needed to rest the first day so we could go out exploring on our second day — we visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral and walked the streets of Dublin. We loved the Temple Bar area, walking along the River Liffey and of course the nightlife and music that fills the streets. Much Guinness and whiskey was consumed, and the food scene was impressive. The following day we started our journey to Cork, making a quick stop in Kilkenny for a coffee and an amble through the shopping center. We continued on our journey and arrived at Cork just as the sun was setting. It was a quick but lively evening in Cork, filled with music and more Guiness of course. In the morning we went to the English Market, an obvious highlight of the trip for the foodie in me. It was everything I imagined and more! We bought nibbles and packed a lunch as we continued on our journey, heading to Killarney National Park. I don’t know how we were so lucky, but the weather was absolutely amazing. We had a picnic in the park and enjoyed the gardens of the the Muckross House, views from the foot of the Macgillycuddy Reeks (Ireland’s highest mountain range) and the Lakes of Killarney. After the quick stop, we continued on to our next destination, Dingle. So many of our friends raved about Dingle, and it more than lived up to the hype. If you can make it to Dingle in one piece (the most beautiful but scary drive of our lives), it is well worth it. The roads are so narrow that it’s difficult to navigate, but only one hub cap was harmed and we arrived to the most warm and welcoming B&B, The Pax House, for a two-night stay. Dingle is a small fishing village on the west coast of Ireland, overlooking Dingle Bay. One of our favorite parts of the trip was visiting the Dingle Distillery. Our tour was hosted by the most wonderful orator who was truly so passionate about not only the distillery itself, but the history of the process.  We learned so much and of course enjoyed the gin and vodka samplings. We just missed the release of their newest addition, whiskey! The next day we drove the Slea Head Drive and continued onto Doolin. We arrived in Doolin just before sunset, in time to see the Cliffs of Moher. I know they are very touristy but it was truly breathtaking. It was the perfect way to end our trip before we headed back to Dublin to catch our flight.

Spring House Hotel Wedding and The Inn at Spring House//October 19, 2016

I was so thrilled when Stephanie and Scott chose me to be their wedding photographer. Not only did we hit it off right away but their wedding choices pretty much speak to my soul: an intimate wedding, on block island, with less than 20 people. What could be more perfect than that? The joy of an intimate wedding is getting to know each and every person there. Every family member and friend was just lovely, warm and welcoming. I brought Steve to keep me company in my down time – and to carry my bags of course. Scott and Stephanie were kind enough to invite him to dinner, to my surprise! The Spring House did a lovely job coordinating the day, the decorations, the wine and cheese hour, and the beautiful lobster dinner. The romance of the weekend was only enhanced by the moody fog that was cast over the island. Block Island is such a magical place. Both Stephanie and Scott love to travel together, so they knew right away they wanted to do a destination wedding. I think they chose the perfect island!

Reception and Venue: The Inn At Spring House Hotel
